Welcome

In 1872 President Ulysses S. Grant did something considered by many to be the most democratic thing ever done in America, he created the world’s first National Park. Yellowstone National Park was set aside in an effort to protect and preserve one of America’s many treasures for its citizens to enjoy. Since then almost 400 of our country’s most unique, beautiful and historic places have been set aside under the care of the National Park Service. These places provide an unrivaled environment for recreation, learning and relaxation that is underutilized by Americans today. To encourage Americans to re-create a culture of visiting and volunteering at National Parks in our country we will document our own 3-week roadtrip through the National Parks of the American Southwest. This page is designed to bring attention some of the smaller units of the National Park Service and the wonderful opportunities they provide. Join us as we create lasting memories, learn valuable lessons, and explore our National Parks.
